Sitz bath

1. Place bath tub on toilet vase.
2. Place tube with nozzle in desired position.
3. Add cold or warm water as desired. Add medication to water as prescribed.
4. Patient sits on bath tub.
5. Press bulb to project water.

A sitz bath is used to reduce inflammation, improve hygiene and promote blood flow to the anogenital area. Common uses of the sitz bath include reducing inflammation and discomfort caused by hemorrhoids, and healing perineal and vaginal lacerations after vaginal childbirth. It is also useful for children who have a rash or chafing in the perineal area.
